No, you don't need an fancy bike or have to wear lycra to ride with us.  Follow the link to find answers to common questions about the club.

  • Do I need a fancy bike to ride with AVP?  The simple answer is no... but, as with any bike, it should be road worthy.  The important thing is to get out and ride and to enjoy yourself.  If you start riding on a regular basis and feel that you'd like to upgrade to something better we can help you choose a suitable bike for your style of riding.
  • Do I need to wear lycra?  Certainly not.  Again, it's about getting out on your bike and enjoying the ride, not about trying to look the part.  We have one regular member who choses to ride in work boots and jeans and it certainly doesn't slow him down.  Many of us do wear cycle specific clothing because it's been designed for riding so it's more comfortable than normal clothes.  Don't let the lycra put you off!
