Axe Valley Pedallers Committee members proudly hold a joint cheque for Devon Air Ambulance Trust and The Prostate Cancer Charity to the sum of £2227.91
Axe Valley Pedallers raised £2,227.91 for charity on their Round the Block – Round the Clock 24 hour cycle event.  They have just collected in the last of the sponsorship and are just delighted with the total figure.

The money is to be divided equally between Devon Air Ambulance Trust and The Prostate Cancer Charity.

The cycle event that was held during September when the Tour of Britain cycle race visited the town proved to be a huge success and continues the promotion by the club of “Cycling for All”.

Three people managed to cycle over 200 miles during the 24-hour period, a terrific achievement and demonstration of endurance.  In the fancy dress category first prize went to a brilliant and imaginative design by Lisa Gregory and Elsa Wood as a witch and her cat, together with broomsticks and cauldrons, they then went onto cycle the 5-mile circuit, well done to them both and well done to everyone for making the event such a success.

It is worth noting that a really important milestone has been hit by the Pedallers with this latest charity ride event, and that is the £10,000 target they set themselves to raise for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.  As it happens they have almost reached £11,000 by the collective effort of the club over a three-year period. Not bad for a club that is not even 5 years old yet.

One for next years diary then must be the Round the Block – Round the Clock charity cycle event, which was part of the Seaton Festival of Cycling, because of its huge success it is going to take place again in September 2010.
