I have cycled to work for the month of May raising money for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).  I am the charity officer for the Axe Valley Pedallers (AVP), our chosen charity is DAAT and this is our fourth year sponsoring this very worthy charity.  AVP are aiming to reach the target of £10,000 by the end of the year raising money from events over the previous four years.  To help reach the target, I thought cycling to work would be a good challenge.  If you know the area and the terrain I have cycled, you will know how difficult this has been!

Cycling to work is a great challenge and I thoroughly encourage anyone to do it. If you don’t have a bicycle; ask your employer about the “bike to work” scheme whereby your employer buys your bicycle and you pay for it over a 12 or 18 month period. The bonus is that you don’t pay tax on the bike!  Soanes cycles, Colyton is the closest shop who participate in arranging bicycles for the scheme.

The total mileage cycled from the month was 495.38 miles with over 37 hours spent on bike averaging 13.35 miles per hour and heart beat of 138 BPM.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored me to raise the grand total of £1100.00 for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

And most importantly, if you didn’t sponsor me and would like to please go online to our ‘Justgiving’ page www.justgiving.com/axevalleypedallers
